North African Arab volunteers (WW2)

Postby Marcus Wendel » 16 Feb 2008 11:26

Attached is a photo of a battalion flag used by North African Arab volunteers (wearing a mix of German and Vichy French equipment) in the German Wehrmacht during WW2.

Photo from Museum of Modern History, Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Possibly a member or members of a joint German/Arab para commando under Abwehr or from Schellenbergs VI Bureau, that would explain the Luftwaffe uniform.Such sabotage units were dropped both in Palestine and in North Africa in 1943/44
